Roger J. Boespflug joined the Fire Department on April 25th, 1973. During his 17 years of service Roger's achievments included, Fire Lieutenant 1981, Captain, 1982-1987, Trustee 1989-1990.
On April 12th, 1990 Fireman Boespflug was a victim of a tagic boat accident while fishing at Boysen Resivoir. He was a seasoned veteran of R.F.D. and had participated in many search and rescue operations during his service to the community.
Vowing not to leave him fellow firemen and other volunteers logged over 7,000 man hours in the search operation. On May 15th, 33 days later, fellow firemen recovered Roger from the waters of Boysen Resevior and brought him home. 33 days of searching, learning, and supporting his family and each other.
Although Roger lost his life his sacrafice has resulted in valuable training and testing of all local emergency response groups. Roger would have liked that.
